Action and humor perfectly blended!
Great book from beginning to end. I loved the characters and their interactions with each other, it gave a real sense of camaraderie and I empathized with them fairly quickly. I was delighted to see the author take on some challenging issues like gender discrimination yet not be preachy or ruin the story by over using the concepts. Lastly, I loved the vivid description and details she puts into her fight scenes and choreography. Clearly she has done her homework. I have never been a fan of Greek history or mythology until now. I am psyched to read part 2 when it comes out.

Great book. Loved Kara's detail with the fights and hand to hand combat. Also loved that she shows that both sexes can have good and bad people. Can't wait for the next book.

Excellent Adventure
1/2
Nike's world is both new and familiar. Though she is on an escort quest to return an obstinate princess home, she has to do so through a country that sees her as less because she is a woman. As an Amazon, she is the antithesis of Ancient Greece's culture regarding women, their status, and their abilities. A concept familiar even in our own present time. Not only does she have to contend with the characters she interacts with on her Journey, but her own self. Nike's journey is as much about self discovery and reflection as it is about the escort quest. A feat of strength considering the constant bickering between her closest companion, Belen and the Cretan Princess Syna.
I'm looking forward to the continuation of Nike's adventure.

...of the mythology she writes of, Kara clearly knows her stuff. I was greatly impressed by how well the battle scenes played out, how powerful the interaction between all of the characters was, and how much I learned in general from reading this book. I recommend this to all genders as a means of opening our eyes to the realities of how women have been treated (and still are) throughout history. It's been a long time since I took to a book that made it difficult to put down, and considering I got through this one in 2 and a half days while still having plenty of time for other things shows that Kara certainly has a way with words, a way with storytelling. I am greatly anticipating part 2, and look forward to seeing where Nike and her entourage goes next. ~Nathan S Gulley (Amazon.com)
Amazing writing with a great sense of androgyny with female and male strengths as well. Finally an author that defines the character by traits and triumphs over gender identity. She creates a world in which the Greeks would truly live in.
